Aneesa Chaudhry is back on the fringe today following her excellent performance yesterday evening at the Mill Bay Inn. We caught her last night and thought she was a fantastic performer. Her eclectic take on jazz managed to clear the front row at one point, but don’t let that put you off – the rest of the room thought she was fabulous. She trained as a barrister, but the pull of music and the creative influences of her parents led her to give up with wig and replace it with sexy frocks and heels. She performs with ease and a great sense of humour – her voice is incredible and well worth checking out later today. It’s part of Mick Smith free fringe events, so you won’t even need to pay to get in.

A rising new star in the Jazz community I found was Aneesa Chaudhry her subtle blend of Jazz with Asian music left the audience encapsulated as she took both our hearts and our imaginations. I could not believe that she is still unsigned but check out her CD Asian Provocateur which can be purchased from www.aneesachaudhry.com she has a unique mix of influences and a vocal range that will knock your socks off, something new, something special.

Leytonstone Festival Cabaret Evening

Hi Aneesa, what a night, I expected a small band say a trio or quartet and you brought a 7 piece group. Wow! The guys and girls in the band now renamed “Aneesa Chaudhry All Stars” were just the tops, with 3 rhythm and 4 front line, how could we not have a great night. However, I am forgetting you Aneesa, you were just fantastic! You had the audience spell bound with your singing and the mingling with the audience whilst singing made it more like a party cabaret. Great music, Great songs, Great Singer. ‘nough said. Keep on singing. Best regards. Ron Wortley-Millek, Leytonstone Festival Association.

Sopranos Piano Bar – Kensington 2006

Women’s Stage EuroPride Soho 2006

“Aneesa really thrilled the crowd with her much loved songs and sexy performance.

England may have lost the football that day but I certainly won with the many great acts on the first ever Women’s Stage next year is going to be even bigger and better. Thanks Aneesa for taking part, you were fabulous!” Emma Hands, Vice-Chair, Pride London

John Ongom Big Band at Leytonstone Festival – July 2006

“We had the the John Ongom Big Band again at the festival this year, and we were all stunned by a new guest singer called Aneesa Chaudhry. Whenever she grabbed the mic, the hubbub subsided and a hush developed. After each song, the room erupted. What a star.” Phil Wray, Vice Chair, Leytonstone Festival Association

Bar Wotever – June 2006
This tiny body made the whole Bar Wotever surrender and sing & dance along to her well loved tunes. She created a happy party atmosphere and flirted shamelessly with us all. She’s hot and she can sing. But I was most impressed by her stage performance. Ingo, Organiser of Bar Wotever Libertas! Lesbian Arts Festival – All Star Concert – October 2003 “The audience warmed immediately to Aneesa’s bluesy, jazzy voice as she sang Natural Woman. By the time she got to Let There be Love we were moving with her in our seats. We all nearly passed out with her sensual, sexy rendition of Me and Mrs Jones, but it was her cheeky, playful finale with Sandi Toksvig that brought the house down. Aneesa’s going to be a star and we’re delighted that she was at the Libertas! Lesbian Pride Weekend at the beginning of what we believe will be a big and very successful career. My favourite was definitely Me and Mrs Jones – oh wow so good!”Jenny, Libertas! All Star Concert Organiser

Brighton Pride – August 2003“Powerful delivery from this exuberant performer”Sheila McWattie, Brighton Pride Women’s Tent organiser“Thank you very much for the fabulous singing – the best thing at PRIDE for me!”Daa, Spectrum co-ordinator for the People of Colour Tent.Women’s quarter at Birmingham Pride – May 2003“Not having seen or heard Aneesa before I booked her to perform at Birmingham’s Gay Pride festival, I was unaware of her vocal ability, but once I’d heard her, I was enthralled by her talent. She has a truly amazing singing voice, as well as excellent stage presence, and showed a wonderful rapport with the audience. All these talents combined with her good looks makes way for none other than a STAR in her own right.”HilliOther similar events where Aneesa has performed include Nottingham Pride 2003,
BiCon 2003 (at University of East London) and Tottenham Arts Festival.
