“Aneesa brought a touch of glamour to our AGM and celebration. Her performance was faultless, bringing a light touch to some favourite jazz classics, and her rapport with the audience was instant and warm. A real highlight of the evening. I couldn’t recommend her highly enough.”Deb James, Events Organiser, Voluntary Action Camden AGM 2008
Unsung Women’s Awards Gig for International Women’s Day – March 2003
What a revelation to hear Aneesa at the Unsung Women’s Award. As if there weren’t enough wonderful women being recognised for the valuable work they do for their communities, Aneesa bounded into our consciousness with a verve and style that demanded our attention. The voice ranged and dipped, sometimes melancholy, sometimes playful, to capture the imagination and bring freshness to well known songs. Her control, rhythm, pitch – all perfect, and all delivered with ease. Aneesa not only has the voice, she has the personality – a big one – and I wish her every success with her musical ambitions. This is one lady who is not going to remain unsung for long.
- Sameena Khan, Cabinet Office, Whitehall
I was one of the women to get an award at this fantastic event, and my, was I bowled over by Aneesa. Us ladies may now have certificates, but Aneesa has by far the biggest gift you can have – that’s natural talent. She sings like an angel, and I hope she soars.
- Seema Jabbar, President Bazm-e-Shero Adab (Asian Literature and Poetry Society of Great Britain), Haringey
Aneesa had the whole civic reception up and jiving. Wow – who would have thought such a tiny woman had such a big rich voice. … Getting them all up to dance was inspired.
- Eve Featherstone, Senior Equalities Development Officer (and organiser of the International Women’s Day celebrations), Haringey Council
Aneesa replies: Thanks to everyone for such a fabulous lunch time gig! I had a fantastic time and loved singing in the council chamber with the local women dancing to My Baby Just Cares.
Carers’ Day, Haringey, London – June 2003
… another wonderful performance … Everyone who attended the event thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We were so pleased that we were able to participate in the sing along session where we were your backing group! This was an opportunity for carers to “let their hair down” and forget their caring responsibilities for a short while. Hope you are still bubbling!
- Petoria Smith, Carers’ Development Manager, Carers’ Support Team
Carers came alive! They joined in with your singing!!! Thank you for your help at short notice. Also thanks to your colleague on the PA system. I will keep you in mind for future events or if I hear anyone else putting on anything.
- Luciana Frederic, Family Support Service Manager
Domestic Violence One Stop Shop launch (charity event), Tottenham – May 2003
Aneesa led us through a range of emotions with her great rendition of some classic tunes! An impressive performance!
